  • Removing the triples?

I'm trying to get the front end off a '90 GSXF600 and can't manage to get the steering stem out of the steering head. I've got the top triple off, and the stem seems to have some weird things on it that I'm not sure quite how to remove... I've never done anything like this before.

Is there a trick to removing the lower clamp/stem? I tried pounding and that didn't work, I don't want to break anything...

I need to get the steering stem out of the frame so I can swap the triples (and forks) onto another bike

          Ok, see this:

take a screw diver and a hammer, hit that thing in a counter clock wise direction.

If you have a spanner wrench it will work better. Or like Arsenic said.
