  • New Carbs + New Jet Kit + New Plugs = Smoke everywhere?

I installed a new jet kit in a set of really clean 05 carbs, put new plugs in the bike, put it on the aux tank (to carb sync) and was greeted by a ton of smoke which seemed to come off of the header. After running for a minute or so the headers would just start smoking as if they were heating up and burning something off.

It's idling very well especially considering that I haven't synced it up yet. And I'm skeptical that it's lean and heating up too much since it starts right up w/o choke (makes me think it's a bit rich).

Ideas? I set the pilot jet to 4 turns out like Ivan said to.

question answered. At 4 turns out there is NO WAY it's lean. The smoke he's seeing coming from the headers is the anti-seize on the header bolts burning off. If you take off the headers and put a steel bolt into aluminum without using anti-seize, you don't deserve to breathe anymore
