  • Removnig wheel bearings

    Hey all,
How the heck do you get the wheel bearings out of the wheels?? Do I have to go out and buy one of those fancy slide hammer bearing removers?, or is there a redneck way?

    Thanks,
    Dave

a blind bearing puller how your SUPPOSED to do it, I always just take a extension and knock them out, so the red neck way.

i prefer the screw driver and hammer method just make sure not to hit the sides where the bearings go against

Darn, these babies are in tight then. Tried the screwdriver, tried the extention, tried a socket on the extension, darn tools keep slipping off the bearing. I'm going to borrow a piece of rod from work tonight and try that.
          Thanks guys.

Brass or Bronze drift is the way to go.. I have a 1/2 diameter piece I use. The brass or bronze is soft so less likely to ding the wheel. The key is to work in a circle. You might get just one side knocked out a tiny bit and cause it to lock in place. Tiny taps as you work in a circle. Tiny taps as you work in a circle. Tiny taps as you work in a circle.

              Say it with me..
