  • 95 Katana 600 - 00 600cc engine swap question

So I have a 95 Katana 600 and I am putting a 600cc engine from a 2000. I am told it will bolt straight in.

Some of the questions I have are, can I use the carbs from the 95? How about the ignition coils? I know it takes different plugs.

Anybody have any experience with this and able to share other things I may not have thought about?

    Thanks.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

So do you need different coils to put a 98+ moter in a pre or are the plug wires/colis the same just the plugs themselves are different?

coils are the same from 88-06, you just need 98+ spark plugs.

Yeah, 98+ uses a CR9EK I think with is dual electrode, while the pre's use DR8s or something single electrode.

the C and D in the NGK spark plug number denotes a different mm diameter, so pre spark plugs will not fit in a 98+ cylinder head.

It's an aluminum cylinder head... I can make 'em fit.

if you want to drill and tap holes yeah you can make them fit. I'm not arguing that it can't be done. I just think it would be about 200x's easier to just buy the right plugs.
