Look in the gas tank for rust. Install inline fuel filters. Learn how to remove and clean your carbs. I got my bike about 1 month ago, and can get them off and cleaned and back on in less than an hour now. Until I get the issues with my tank squared away, I have to clean them about once a week. Check your carb boots for splits. I found this will mess with your idle as well.
