  • Question about clutch input shaft

I took apart my front clutch cover(from my 93 750 Kat), to repair damage due to chain broke running, I got a new one from my suzuki dealer, I replaced also the seal with a new one, when I try to push by hand the rod I cannot move it in, is this normal? I think maybe the force of the clutch is too much for me to meve by hand just like that,or is it not? Thanks Harry

well, first of all that isn't the clutch cover, you took off the sprocket cover. and you have to understand how the clutch works. when you apply tension to the lever it moves the worm gear up and out. The worm gear pushes against the small push rod that you replaced, which pushes against a longer push rod. That 2nd push rod pushes against a clutch piece with a bearing and washer on it. That opens the pressure plate. I don't know exactly what your talking about but thats how a push rod set up works.

I've never been able to push the rod with my fingers.

Yeah , it's the mechanical advantage of the gear that pushes the rod . Normal .
