I did an oil change today and bought another crush washer. Is there a trick to getting the old washer off. I have read that it needs to be changed. I tried to scrap out the old oil grudge, with a dental tool, but the washer did not want to move. Rather than accidentally messing up the plug I left it. Should I just buy a new oil plug? Just to make sure the ribbed side is down?

I suggest getting the Fumoto valve and never have to worry about getting another crush washer or even having to remove your belly fairing to change the oil again

And the valve is very safe, I was skeptical as well, by CP has had his for YEARS and hasn't ever had a problem, to open the valve you don't just turn it, its like a push down and turn, the the push down part is spring loaded, so even if a rock or some road debris hits it, it won't open accidentally.Florida, the only place where you need your windshield wipers and sunglasses. At the same time.

Yup, I also have one on my truck in addition to the Kat and no problems whatsoever.
Here is the cheapest place to get them. (Even cheaper than fumoto.com)

Fumoto valve = cake to install and virtually zero chance of opening by itself. To be safe, make sure you create a reference of where you torqued to, then check after several miles/rides to make sure it hasn't shifted due to an under-torque condition, etc.
Easily the best $20 I spent yet on my Kat....thanks CP!
