Choke Position

Hey guys-

I'm helping my friend out with a 99 GSX 600 he just purchased. This may be a dumb question, but in which position is the choke, and which is run? The diagram on the control lever have been rubbed/scratched off so I can't read them. We have to charge the battery anyways, so I figured I would just drop in and get a quick answer rather than fouling the plugs.

you move it towards you "when on the bike" to increase choke, all the way away from you = off
