i did searching and read all the posts......but i was wondering if i should buy a chain and a sprocket separetly or should i buy a kit...

Depends on the condition, wear, of your sprockets for one thing.

it depends on how much you want to spend, and what you need. If you need the sprockets and the chain, buy a set, it's a lot cheaper then buying elerything seperatly. I'd recommend getting an RK set. That will give you an RK 530XSO chain, and Vortex sprockets. That's a great set. With a 97' 750, you will need a 116 link chain. If you were to buy them seperatly, get an RK 530XSO 116 link chain, a Sidewinder 45 tooth 530 pitch rear sprocket, and just about any steel 15 tooth front sprocket.
