  • fuel tank removal on an 88' gsx600

hey just wanna know how easy it is or how tricky it is to remove it.

Super easy. You really don't have to take off the fairings. Lossen the left fairing (or take off completely), take off seat, unscrew the tank from the bracket, pull fairing away enough to remove the petcock from the hole in the fairing, lift the tank slightly and disconnect the three hoses from the petcock, and the wires for the fuel gauge (that will be on the right side. Then just pull the tank out towards you.

Please do try using the search. I know that I've answered this question several times before...

You shouldn't get much fuel (if any) out of the lines.

hey guys.. it came off without a problem.. one thing ist here seems to be a rubber tubing in the middle of the tank on the bottm and the fuel pump tubes have come off and i dont know where they go. are they just vent tubes or actually connect to something>

Look in the service manual, it should show where the hoses are.

Two tubes on the bottom come from the vent/overflow (that ones in the center) , and the fuel sender as a "just in case the sender leaks" backup . They just hang . Route them so they stick out the bottm . Away from the chain is good .

leave it on reserve or on and no petrol should come out
