  • Major Electrical Problem....I think

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this, but here's my problem.

I have basically no electrical functions working on my 88 Katana other than headlight and tail light. This list of what doesn't work is:

    Tach
    turn signals (any)
    dash lights
    gas gauge
    horn
    brake light

The bike will still start and ride, but thats about it. I've checked fuses and they're all good. I'm guessing a wire loose somewhere, but hoping somebody's had this happen before and can give me a shortcut to fixing it.

    Thanks in advance.

I think that you amazingly burned out 3 fuses..
The same wire that feeds the light fuses feeds the ignition fuse.. So I guess it could also be that connector.
(at the fuse box) after the fuse box it goes in a dozen ways.. It's more likely at the root. The fuse box.

    Ohh wait..
Could be a ground.. The Tach shares some wires with the
    turn signals.

check your fuses, and then disconect and re connect the wire from the chart above.

when i had my ninja 250 i thought i had some sort of electrical gremlin too. no turn signals and several other things wouldnt work. it turned out to be the little wire on the battery was not hooked up and i wasnt grounding everything. plugged it in and voila! everything worked.
