engine noise

i have a 90 kat 750. the engine is kinda noisy when idling. does this indicate a problem . a local shop told me that these bikes tend to be noisy and that is the nature of the beast. bike seems very fast when it is running . i also had a compression test done and everything checked out ok. i'm wondering if i need a valve adjustment

Might benefit from a valve adjust (it IS part of scheduled maintenance), but air cooled engines are noisier than water cooled

sounds like the valves to me. Get them adjusted ASAP because last year one og my valves broke and it ended up costing me close to $1000 to get the bike back on the road.
