  • Exhaust clamp/hanger strap, etc.

The strap/clamp that hangs my Wileyco exhaust to the rear pass footpeg broke.

I've been on a search for a replacement for a while now and basically researched/determine that it is easier to probably create my own. I bought a t-bolt clamp from Dennis Kirk and it was too small.

I've picked up a steel strap/tie thingy at home depot. This will be my first time trying to fab steel. Do you have any tips, ideas, suggestions to work with bending and drilling holes in it. I used a Dremel and hacksawed a portion of alreay but it was still too big.

The item that I picked up has multiple smaller holes across it with two big holes located on the opposite ends.

    Thoughts suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Mine broke too and I have left it off, not sure if that's the right thing to do but it hasn't moved any. Anyway, a worm clamp(if that's what you're talking about-big hose clamp) should hold it pretty good, I would just check it for slippage every time you ride.

I don't think a worm clamp would work because I have an exhaust saver/slider that I need to install and even I choose to use a worm clamp I'm not sure how it work.

I need this type of clamp/bracket to work for my app: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...T.ac=SLIsearch

I bought this and it was small but would have worked if the size was right :http://www.bikebandit.com/cobra-stai...lamps?m=147770

I'm a big fan of the T-Bolt clamps. Can you find one locally that'll fit?

As for working with the steel strap, go low-speed when you're drilling holes in it and use a square piece of aluminum with rounded over edges for a washer to avoid creasing the strap and creating a weak spot. Just use a chunk of an old street sign (available from your nearest recycling/scrap yard). Cut with a hacksaw and ease the edges with a file. NBD.
