quick exhaust question

I installed the factory pro shift kit and re-connected the exhuast header pipes to the manifold using the 4 new gaskets.. less than a minute after firing up the bike i started getting a lot of acrid smoke coming from the header pipes! it doesnt smell like exhaust or burning oil so im thinking maybe this is normal for the gaskets to "burn in"?.

please help! im sitting in my garage with my laptop trying to decide what to do!

smoke seems to go away after a few minutes so i guess its time to put the farings back on and test ride..

Okay, so was that a dumb question or something? It stopped smoking after running for 20 mins or so but I had the fire extinguisher out just in case...

Did you also happen to paint the headers?

Or spray them with penetrating oil?

Aha! Yes I did spray them with WD-40 when I removed them.. wow can't believe I missed that, thank you!
