  • Got a free Yoshi pipe but....

I got a free Yoshimura RS-3 pipe of a GSX-R 750 from a friend but he cut the baffle out of it (where the mid-pipe bolts to it). I was just wondering would this hurt my engine at all or would i need any re-jetting at all or should i put a baffle in it. I did alot of searching and i just want to make sure before i try to install or something.

The pipe isnt hurt, and i went to Yoshimura website and they do sell a muffler rebuild kit, but its like $250 bucks, I could get a new exhaust for almost that amount... just looking for some answers....

the baffle where? You mean the piece that the midpipe slides into? Well if you dont have that then how could it stay sealed and work as a system

i'm confused... i would've figured by the word baffles, you meant the crap inside the pipe to help keep it quiet, but you're talking about the part where the mid-pipe attaches... the mid-pipe should slide into a small piece on the end, that is then tightened onto the mid-pipe with a bolt. so if that piece is gone, you have no way of keeping everything together nice and tight. some pics would definitely help.

here's the pic of it.. the pipe inside slide up and down a little and you can see where inside there seems to be where something was cut out.. ive never seen the inside of it before hand or any other motorcycle exhaust so i was just wondering

No, baffle out will not hurt your engine. It will just sound more raspy instead of a bit throaty. My baffles were shredded on my Yoshi and I actually liked the sound.
