So i tried to install the ignition advancer and couldnt get the allen key loose. Me and another buddy were putting our body weight on that stupid thing and it wouldnt pop. Eventually I stripped it, totally sucks. So what do I do know? Thanks for the help.

Stripped the head of the allen? Or stripped the threads that the allen goes to? If its only the allen head Id suggest an easy-out with an impact wrench or impact driver, if you dont have a compressor. A little PB-Blaster and some vibations can go a long way. If you stripped the threads, your in trauble because they go into the crankshaft. And try not the break the head off either, equally as bad.Originally posted by arsenic93 octane fuel and K&N pod filters rock.

i had this exact same problem for like a month.
take it to the dealer or a machine shop.
they put some kind of thread lock in there that requires a TON of torque to break up. i used a butane torch, and cut through the outside of the stock advancer to get at the allen screw, used three different types of screw-outs, hammered a chisel in there, bought a big *** hammer drill, and still could not get the damn thing to move.
then again, you could be luckier than me.joey b.

Ok. So I had this same problem like a month ago. I ended up trying the easy out. It didnt work (I blame it on cheap equipment, it was a black and decker easy out). I then used a Carbide tipped drill bit at a slow rpm and drill the head down to the easy out. The drill bit wouldnt cut the easy out because of the hardened steel. Next I took a dremel with a cut off wheel to the old advancer and cut it into like 6 sections. Eventually this got it down to where the head of the bolt crumbled and I was able to get some vice grips on the shaft to unscrew it. hope this helps.

Eazy method to remove stripped allen screw
Use nut with inside diameter close to size of allen head. Lay on top of allen head and use mig welder to fill inside of nut with weld, fusing inside of nut to allen head. Use socket or wrench to remove, heat from welder will make it eazy to remove. Reinstall using new allen screw. This will work on many rung off bolts and and stripped allen heads, just use the correct heat and feed from your welder.

Or weld an allen wrench to the screw and twist it out. I had to use a hammer on my allen wrench to break that sucker free, they don't like to come ut.Chris

AHAA! I finnally got it! thanks for all the help. I ended up using a slightly larger allen key socket and tapping it into the bolt. Then took a rubber hammer and gave er a wack. Walla it spun like a top. I dont know why it didnt work like that last night ( i must have loosend it lol). Anyways the old advancer came off in a snap and the new one i had to give it a tap with a rubber malet but nothing too difficult. I started it up and nothing fell apart so it must be on right, (will i know if it isnt on right?) Anyways thanks for all the help, i love this site!Air Force
