  • Great Decal remover

I no this topic is on hear a 1,000 times but i did find a quick easy way to get your decals off, just thought i would share it with you. I used CRC brake cleaner and an old I.D. card or credit card to remove the decals off my 02 kat. Just soaked a rag down, held it on the decal residue for a couple of minutes and then just peeled it away with the old credit card. Worked great with no damage to my paint.

Only if you want to take the paint off as well. Otherwise a big NO!

He's not talking about using hydraulic brake fluid, he's talking about using brake parts cleaner. I don't know if this is specifically the one he's talking about but it is something I quickly found.

I'm curious if this will work on 12+ year old kats. The only thing I've found to work was the rubber wheel.

I would NEVER use brake cleaner on a painted surface that I cared about.

If I ran across something that goo gone and the heat gun wouldn't touch... I'd go the pink eraser route.

Brake clean good, brake fluid bad. I'm with Steves though I wouldn't use brake clean on any paint that I cared about.

You guys are nuts! Go get yourself a heat gun... They are cheap, thats the best way to get them off, heat em up and just peal off. If there is any gunk left heat that back up and wipe with a soft rag.

this doesn't work well on 10+yr old stickers... it only works if the adhesive can be heated up to remove, and old stickers its too dried out.

I use zippo lighter fluid (naptha) and a tennis ball, cut in half and turned rubber side out.

remaining adhesive can be removed with a rag and more fluid.

I'm in the middle of this right now.

A heat gun will pull the decal off but not the glue.

Goo Gone did not work for me, WD40, nope, cleaner wax, ua ua, so I just ran out to the shop and tried Advanced Auto Parts Break Cleaner, I had some on the shelf.
No No No, I think it fogged the ABS plastic!

Perhaps CRC is a different compound but I'm still looking myself. Thank God I started on the small 750 sticker!

WD-40 will do wonders for sticker removal. or goo gone. havent found any yet of any age, sun baked, etc one of those two and a little heat gun applied will not remove.

I used to do spray in bed liners for trucks and we used methanol to remove any misting overspray. We also used it for stickers etc... It is safe to use on plastics, i.e. brake light housings, without fogging or damage to painted surfaces.
I finally got home and get to ride my KAT!!!
