  • 600 1999 engine cover question

    Hi!
I am just wondering about something...
My engine cover on the left side of the bike, (the gear lever side) is scratched. Im thinking about taking it off to get it cleaned up...

Now, my question, will oil spill out?
Is there a gasket (washer), or silicone on the seams of the cover?

Or should I just paint it on the bike...

    Thanks for the help!

The left side, starter cover is an oil seal part. Yes, oil will come out.

Yes a major mess will happen. Replace the gasket when you take it off.

Do it next time you change your oil.

You'll still get some seepage anyway... just be prepared for that.

            Didn't range post in here?

when you remove the cover just place a butter dish under it, some will come out but not alot as long as you pull the drain plug first. But make sure you do replace the gasket.
