So I finally got my can of color rite paint for the 03 tail. Placed down white primer, per the website, and put down two coats of the blue. After comparing it to the paint already on the bike, it seems light. I haven't clear-coated it yet, so I'm hoping that'll make a difference, but it seems light. I remember a previous post from someone that they used grey primer and it was too dark. Anyone else have this problem?

I clear coated it two days ago. It's a lot darker now. Tomorrow I'm going to hit it with the rubbing compound and then put in on. We'll see how much different the color is. It looks pretty close just comparing the two, now.Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

I had mine in the sun drying, so I've got a good idea of what it will look like. Tomorrow is a day off with no appointments, so we'll see how it looks actually on the bike.Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

I have some pics. I ended up not putting the tail on cause I managed to crack one of the tabs (again) putting it on. And it's the tab that would hold the plate, so I chose not to risk having a flat peice of metal fly off at 55mph. Also, the color is still off. It's too light. I used a white primer. If I redo this (with two more cans of colorrite...), I'll use grey primer...and sand before clear. The color-rite paint doesn't seem to like the duplicolor clear.
Here are some pics...
You can also see where I managed to sand through the clear and paint on the tip of the tail. Can anyone tell I'm new at this??? 8)Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

I don't remember who it was, but they said that the grey primer almost made the paint darker than the rest of the bike. I would think red might change it to more of a purple if you don't put enough coats on.Pain is just weakness leaving the body.
