WHat is the best way to get the decals off of the fairing pieces. Want to get the off now in prep for repainting this fall.

use a heat gun or a hair dryer and they should just peel off. then use goo-gone or some other adhesive remover to get the sticky off.

Yep, that'll usually do it. My kat is about to be stripped here soon. Its brand new, and those three warning stickers always jump right out at me as soon as I look at the bike.

Use the search button. This topic has been discussed extensively.

            +1

A heat gun is not recommended. It is very easy to over heat the plastic. A hiar dryer will provide enough heat. When I removed my stickers I had been riding so the sun did the work for me.

                1) go to store
                2) buy cheapest hair dryer they have & goo gone cleaner
                3) heat up decals w/ hair dryer and start peeling
                4) use goo gone to get rid of remaining glue stuff
                5) return hair dryer to store and say it wasn't what your g/f|wife|etc wanted

                worked great for me

Hmmm... depends on the service rep at the store I guess.

I use Goo Gone all of the time around the house so I already had a bottle.

OH YEAH... DO NOT PEEL OFF THE TANK DECALS UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO PAINT...

I learned the hard way that they are under the clearcoat and if you remove them you have a nice indentation of the decal w/o clearcoat over it.

Don't use a heat gun. I did, the decals melted, and were VERY hard to get off at that point

i parked mine in direct sunlight

and used contracter's solvent(orange citrus oil)

worked well for me... actually better than goo gone

Goo Gone worked well for me on the tank, but it blisterd some of the paint on the plastic parts.... Not sure if this was a freak thing, but I will have more caution when using goo gone again.
