  • Removing Front Sprocket Cover???

    Any help?

Took out the 6 long bolts that hold the cover on, shifter assbly is off of course, but the cover won't budge. Looks like the problem is the shaft that holds on the toe shifter.

It looks as though it should slide off the shaft but it isn't moving at all. Appears to need to be banged lightly from the backside to get the cover moving off the shaft.

Appreciate anyone giving me the simple way.

Don't start banging it... use some wd-40 on the shaft.. make sure the shaft is clean of any gunk...

you did remove the gear shift arm right?

Yeah, the arm is off. I'll try some spray lube but it seems to be pretty tight. Obviously that's how it comes off so hoping a lube job will do it.

Cleaned the shaft, lubed it good, no budge.

you may need to just work it back and forth to get it to slide off the shaft.

I'd use gentle taps with a rubber mallet.

So I get this straight, there are 2 shafts. One is the shaft the foot shifter rides on and the other is the splined shaft towards the front of the bike.

Does the rear shaft that the foot shifter rides on come off with the cover and only the splined shaft stays?

              Thanks for help.

Ok I finally got the cover off, thanks for help.
