I like that Jim is making these finally. However it's not a new concept, there's been a company out there that's had this out for a while now. That company shall remain nameless but uses the same aluminum inside and steel outer ring.
It looks cool and u get alittle weight savings over an all steel sprocket but still get the durability of steel.
Jim and junker, my only real question is how will u allow tooth count to be changed when the overall dia of the sprocket gets larger/smaller as tooth count changes. That would mean the aluminum middle would have to be small enough to allow the steel outer ring to shrink and still match up to the mounting points.
Also a good thing would be that purchasing the steel outer ring in different tooth counts should be cheaper than getting a full sized sprocket am I right? Less material should make it cheaper which would be nice as most ppl don't usually pick the correct tooth count from the get go and would like to fine tune it.
