  • Odd ? about changing the front

So.. i get how to remove the front but how do you raise it and hold it till you get the new one. The dealer told me if i bought the tire from him he would put the tire on the rim and balance it for free. Sice im a hillbilly i thought of putting straps on the handle bars and using a come along to raise it?Is there something besides a floorjack to lift the front end up?

I just use ratchet straps hooked to an eye bolt screwed into a joist in my garage ceiling.

Have someone sit on the back of the bike until you get the front wheel done.

I actually had to do this in the parkinglot outside the shop earlier this summer.
Bike on center stand, I loosened the calipers and the front wheel bolt.
I found some wooden blocks and set them on the ground where the forks would hit, lifted the bike with one hand and pulled the bolt with the other.
Out comes the wheel and I could gently set the forks down onto the wooden blocks.

            Easy peasy, japanese

A one gallon paint can and a few scraps of wood under the pipes.
As long as you have it on the center stand...

Floor jack and a block of wood on the exhaust header as far forward as I can get.

Simple... Put your bike on the centerstand. Take the car jack out of the trunk of your car and place it under the bike's oil pan. Place a folded towel between the jack and the pan, then raise the front of the bike until the front tire barely clears the ground.
