  • Wheel alignment

So I spent the better part of an hour rolling around on the garage floor aligning my rear tire and holly eff the marks on the swing arm are 1 whole mark out !!!! (or my frame is tweaked )
The string method works but sucks, I'm going to fab me up a fancy laser device and throw the string in the garbage. Something along these lines ...... http://www.bikernet.com/garage/PageV...asp?PageID=209
Also found out my rear sprocket is a wee bit bent. I guess I'll be finding this and that wrong or not to my liking from the previous owner for a year or two.

A tape measure works just as well and is a lot cheaper...

While thats not a bad tool for chain alignment its not much use for wheel alignment

The marks on the swingarm are only as good as how the last person who took the axle off aligned the plates.

Gee, and I always just use a straight edge or sight down the chain. Besides, if you get it wrong it's real easy to tell because your bike will want to pull one way or the other. If it wants to go to the right, your rear wheel is off to the left etc.
