I've decided I want to do a good ol' sprocket change for better acceleration. I have a 2006 Katana 750, comes stock with 15/45 setup. I know I want to drop the front sprocket to a 14, but I'm not sure what I want to do with the rear one. Also, my bike only has 3K miles on it, so everything is obviously still relatively new. Can I do a 14/48 or 14/47 setup with the stock chain? Where's the best place to get durable sprockets? Would simply dropping the front to a 14 and leaving the rear one alone make a decent improvement? I'm not putting it on the track, so I'm not looking for any high priced racing stuff. And as you can tell, I'm a bit of a noob with this stuff. Thanks for any and all help.

If you don't do any highway travel, then 14/47 or 48 should be good. I went from a 15/45 to 16/43 setup an my rpms went from 7000 to 6000 at 80 mph. If you go with the 14/47, you should see over 8000 rpms at 80 mph

I went 14/50 on my pre 600, sucked on the freeway but around town it had some scoot.90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.
