I have a 97 Kat 600 and am pretty sure it has 140's on it now...but what's the widest tire I can put on there without mods? Also, I'm in college so price on the tire brand is a major factor considering it's gonna run me $50+ to get it mounted too... THANKS!

You should definitely use the search tool. This has been discussed and rediscussed hundreds of times. Just search tire size. Also, a lot of bike shops through mounting in for free if you purchase the tire from them. Soo, consider that when you find one online.sigpic

Before you get flamed...I believe a 150 is the widest you can go on a pre-98 safely. As for prices, check the net...(this is asked often, so try and use the search feature)2006 GSXR 600 Gone to Gixxer heaven

Just food for thought...what would people on this forum say if I told you there used to be a 220/55R17 Dunlop Qualifier on the rear of my Kat with no rub. I'm thinking it must be a different swingarm setup...Odd right? Let me know what you think! I now have a DUnlop 150/70R17 on it and it looks pretty small in comparison.Current Bike: 2005 SV1000S K5 Red, 7,xxx miles, Hot Bodies Double Bubble Tinted Screen, Hot Bodies Fender Eliminator, Pirelli Diablo Rossi's, LED Flush Mounts, Front/Side/Rear Sliders, PC-III USB, K&N Air Filter, aTRE Mod, TechSpec Tank Grips, Solo Seat Cowl, Corbin Seat, HEL SS Brake/Clutch Lines.

Like others have said here, search and ye shall find... you'll probably find that Dunlops are not preferred either."Men will get no more out of life than they put into it."

I run a 160/60 on a pre98 rim for over 6 years now. It is fine to run that.

Well the 220 is no longer on there, but when I hit up Bright Wire later this week to help tear apart the bike, I'll try to take some pictures so you can all see what it looks like.Current Bike: 2005 SV1000S K5 Red, 7,xxx miles, Hot Bodies Double Bubble Tinted Screen, Hot Bodies Fender Eliminator, Pirelli Diablo Rossi's, LED Flush Mounts, Front/Side/Rear Sliders, PC-III USB, K&N Air Filter, aTRE Mod, TechSpec Tank Grips, Solo Seat Cowl, Corbin Seat, HEL SS Brake/Clutch Lines.
