  • chain and sprokets?

how much would it cost me to bring my bike into a shop for new chain and sprockets to be installed?

Not sure since I always change mine myself, but I would guess somewhere between 1 and 2 hrs labor depending on how quick your local mechanics are, or whatever book time they list.

Depends on the shop, but when all is said and done, probably around $250-300 P&L.

Look for about $40 - 50 for hourly rates. Hardest part of DIY is the masterlink. I don't trust the clip-ons; prefer the rivet-style. You'll need a tool for that ($20 for a knock-off). Otherwise, on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being the toughest), I'd say you're looking at maybe a 3, tops.

If you can adjust the chain, it's not much harder than that.

well then it looks like i'll do it myself thanks for the info like always. sorry for all the questions. i'm not new to rideing but am new to working on my own bike. used to have a buddy do it all for me. he moved and i hate paying for things to be done if it can be done myself.

i checked out the DIY for chain and sprokets good info there.

anyone know where i can get a cheap riveting tool and chain and sprocket set. the cheapest i found for a rivet tool is $98 on bike bandit.
