Fork swap and interchangeable parts

Hey guys. I have an 05 Katana 600 and my right fork is bent. A friend gave me a set off his 01 750 Kat. These are clearly two different forks. Can I use his 01 uppers to put in my 06 bottoms
So I won't have to change the whole front end. Thx guys in advance.

My first thought is yes, that should work. Haven't done it though to know 100%.
