  • Front Fork Drain Plug

Hi Guys! I need some help. I have an 89 katana 750F. I was changing the fork oil and stripped the threads for the drain plug. Is there any silicone sealer I can use to stop the leak? Any and all suggestions welcome.

    Thanks!

It's not a drain plug, it's the fastener that holds the bottom of the damper rod to the bottom of the fork.

      2 best options...

Re-thread it and use a larger screw.

Drill out the hole and use an insert to make the original screw fit.

If he's talking about #9 in the fiche... it's basically a drain plug.

If he's talking about #11... then yeah, that is more serious an issue.

        750 has a drain plug, 600 doesn't. That's my confusion.

I've only worked on Pre 600 forks... so....

The 88 model J 600 forks did not, your right.

The 90-97 600 forks do... just like all the pre 750s.

All 3 sets of Pre kats I have, have the drain plugs.

The 88 model J 600 kat is almost like it's own unique special different and freaking anoying bike...

Although I'm pretty sure... the 97 600 didn't have drain bolts on the folks it's somebody else's problem now.

Got the fork tapped today. Seems to be holding. Just have to put everything back together. Thanks again for the help.
