  • Swaping swingers.

I have a PRE-6 and have been gathering parts for winter surgery. In the surgery roster is a swing arm swap. With this comes ideas and thoughts, I have been racking my brain and searching for threads. So far I have found nothing to confirm nor dismiss my idea. However, before I put the bike up for surgery I hope my question can be answered. My thought is as follows. With swapping the swing arm, that should essentially eliminate the need for the oddly designed dog bones. allowing me to run straight links. Right?

I know that a couple of Kats have done the swinger swap and your insight would be greatly appreciated.

It was suppose to be a surprise but since it will help get answers, the plans are to use a RF900 swinger.

Yes Suzuki RF900 to my Suzuki 600. I have never really been a big fan of the sssa's for my own projects. They do look cool just not for me.

Walteri is a plethora of knowledge And I have asked him about the new bushings needed. No, he does not have the measurements for the bushings and NO, he doesn't remember. Not being rude just helping him not to say it again. I have seen him say it more then... at least a couple dozen times. However, the new dog bones have just recently became an idea. Actually I think that he has even talked to me about those but never in detail.

Yeah that is one sexy/inspiring bike. I have admired that bike since I joined a year ago. To the point that I have actually contemplated doing the 900 body mod, or something similar. Still haven't decided. I am torn between a heavily fairing modded fighter or a naked fighter. I do love me some nakie.

Use a bandit 1200 or RF 900 swingarm. And Keep the dog bones. They work great. They are the key to adjusting the rear height. I got 3 sets of dog bones of diffrent length to ajust height to fit my riding style for certain trips. dog bone sets are a really good engineering design. custom made pivot arms that works with the dog bones is another way to adjust the spring rate feel. It's all about leverage. If you can adjust leverage you can really tune a suspension. My avatar pic is the back of my bike with a bandit 1200 swingarm. Stick with suzuki parts. they all interchange well. with minor fabbing.

I was contemplating keeping the rf900 dog bones. Just looking for an idea, because I was told that the one for the pre won't work on the swinger with the other mount perchs.
