  • Did I get ripped off?

Do the B12 shock and stock shock on a pre 600 have the same dimensions?

The one that I got from cycle salvage on fleabay said it was from a 97 B12, but was the same dimensions as the stocker I just took out. Installed, it didn't raise the rear...

Pictures might help. Also the Bandit shock should have an extra adjustment at the bottom.

Ok, I'll try to snap some pictures.
The only two adjustments I see are the collar at the bottom for adjusting preload and the rebound adjustment at the top. Both the stock and "bandit" shock have the same adjustments.

The first two are the shock I removed. I assume it is the stock pre 600 shock.

The last one is the installed "bandit" lower shock.

The rear height measures 35 inches at the top edge of the tail light with the "bandit" shock in.

Here's a pic with both side by side. The new one is on the right (obviously).

I sent the company an e-mail and they said they probably just labeled it wrong. They are sending me the correct one tomorrow, and I am sending this one back. The good news out of this is I have gotten real quick at swapping out the rear shock!

We'll see how much different the new one is when it comes. For now, the stock shock is back in there.

I totally agree. I just wish I knew of a motorcycle salvage near my home. There is a place called Bent Bike, but I think they are turning into more of a retailer at this point... At least the seller seems pretty quick to make things right at this point.

Ok, so I am going to chock this one up to a really fortunate learning experience. Apparently there is a difference between the early (97) and later (03) B12 shocks. The guy I bought the original one from took back the shorter one and pulled an 03 with 3K miles on it...It should be here any day now, and I will hopefully get it installed this weekend.

I'm just thankful that the person I bought from on e-bay was way cool.

                      Bandit years are 95-1999 (G1) and 2000-2006 (G2).

So does anyone know the diffrence in height from an '04 750 and an '01 1200s Bandit shock offhand? Have a whole bandit for parts already did the engine swap.
