88 Fork Tubes

I want to change my springs over to Progressve but how do you get the cover off to get the springs out?

Switch the forks out for an 89-97 model. The forks we have on our 88's were a one year only deal, and are held on with a snap ring. Makes it a pain to get them back in as you have to have some way to clamp the top back down to get the ring back in. Did it once on mine with a fork oil change, and will be switching to the newer style next time.

Oh yeah!! Jeez was it Mac or you, elkat that spent like a week trying to get the caps off?

No, I got mine off really easy. Took me awhile to figure out how I was going to press the caps back in for the snap ring. Finally had to use two big pairs of c-clamp vise grips.
