  • LED parking light Mod #2

My first 8 LED parking light replacement looked like this:

    and resulted in this:

    But I wasnt satisfied ..

So I made a 32 LED parking light

I'll post pics of it on the bike once I put it all back together!

I actually used 86 ohm resistors rather than the recommended 47 ohm resistors because I didnt have any and the electronics shop I usually buy from requires minimum purchase of 10's. They seem to work fine for now but if they burn out, it's not that big a deal to replace them.

    Total cost:
    4x2W resistors = $0.175 x 4 = $0.70
    32x3mm white LED's = $0.108 x 32 = $3.46
    circuit board = $1.39

    Total cost: $5.55

    and they're DAMN bright

Oh hey, you got any extra flux capacitors laying around? I need one for my minivan.

Ya think!! That will get you noticed...now you can disable your main light and just keep this one on..

Pics are nice, but can I get a circuit diagram here... and maybe some part numbers?

                Thanks!

                Cheers,

                  LED's: 3mm, 8000 mcd, forward voltage 3.2-3,8v, forward current 30 mA

Resistors: 86 ohm, 2 watt (should be using 47 ohm, 1 watt)

There are two prongs that the usual parking light connect to in the parking light housing. The one to the right of the bike (facing forward) is positive and the one on the left is negative. To make wiring easier, I simply soldered wires to the prongs and then the wires to the circuit board with the LED's and resistors.

A dremel was used to cut down the circuit board to fit properly

                              2 x 3mm? why not 32 x 3mm like me? :P

Or just buy one of my 24 or 16 LED set ups once I finish building them
