Astounding. This is what happens when form and function become art.

The bike went to a shop today. First time in 10 years one of my rides will be worked on by someone else. Kinda sucks, but I would rather ride right now than waste what's left of the warm weather trying to get it right

The shop is under strict instructions to call me as soon as they know the problem. If it turns out to be the carbs then I will be sending them to Arsenic.

Not sure if I posted this yet, but my new straight spoke rim is here and bar end mirrors. However funds are going to getting her running first.

Alright, update time. Got the bike back from the shop. Wound up being a simple wire problem that I was overlooking. Guess I was worried it was something major and kept overlooking the simple stuff. Anyways, she runs great now and I'm back to working on her. Well, that is if I'm not out riding.

Changed out the mirrors that I had to these convex bar end mirrors. Rather simple install. All I had to do was chuck the 750 handle bars in a lathe and make a hole. I couldnt tighten down on the old mirrors since they mounted thru the brake/clutch levers. If I did then the levers wouldn't operate. I can actually see more with these new mirrors anyways

Also, made a mount for my Koso gauge. Electrical tape wasn't holding well at speeds

Was having another problem with the tail/brake light. Kept having to replace both lights everytime I rode. Found out that everytime I cross the train tracks by my house, thats enough of a bump to knock the filiments loose. Couldn't upgrade to a better bulb because of the desighn of the tail light housing. So, what I did was gut the entire light and wire in a 48 LED cluster. Problem solved and man is it bright.

Ordered another roll of exhaust wrap. I will finish the exhaust the next time a cold front comes thru

I have decided to put the front rim swap on hold for a wile. Found some undesirable traits with the current suspension that need addressed ASAP. Seems my bike has a mind of its own when in turns, back tire likes to dance around. Have been speeking to Tmod about this and he suggested upgrade to an R6 shock. And as soon as funds permit, the front will be upgraded( Springs and Emulators ).

R6 shock arrived today and the machine shop is spinning some reducers. They should be done in an hour or so, and hopefully this evening, the shock will find a new home.

Shock is installed. Actually feels like I have a suspension now, at least in the rear.

Had to turn my links all the way in to try and get the height back where I had it. It's close but still a little low. Might have to shorten the turnbuckles about an inch to get it right.

Alright, I'm back on track with the mods. I was holding out trying to save for springs and emulators when I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. 08 Busa front end with low miles and in great shape. I'm waiting on the forks and the upper bearing to get here to start the swap.

Within the week I will be picking up a complete set of 01 GSXR600 rearsets. I have also decided sometime soon the rear end will get shortened. Trying to get an 06 GSXR swingarm, rim, and hugger from a guy thats swapping to a VFR swingarm. That combo will shorten the wheelbase approximately 1" shorter than stock.

Here is a picture of the new rim and calipers

And a picture of the rearsets

Absolutely, you won't regret it. Just be prepared to do something with the front if you havent already. The front is a little soft for my likeing.

Got some Bike porn for those of you all watching my bike progress. So far this is my favorite mod that I have done so far.

The upper bearing from TWF Racing is modified since the propper bearing doesnt exist. This notch is necessary for future maintenance. Without this notch you would never be able to drive the race back out of the neck.

About an hour after pulling the bike in the shop, she looks something like this.

Another view. My dog still doesnt know what to think about it.

The plan is to have everything buttoned up by tomorrow evening when the rain stops. Tomorrow
I have to remove the upper tripple and weld my tach/gauge mount to it
Mount the master and bleed the brakes
And come up with a temp setup for my headlight till I figure out how I will run my projectors

Front end is all buttoned up now. Here is a picture of the new headlight mount

And here is the new look.

Took me a little wile to get the ride height dialed in. First trip down the road got a little scary with how much the front end was dropped. The steering was extremely sensitive and the rear end was light. Got the height dialed in today and man what a difference this front end is. Its like a new bike. Actually felt confident enough to break into the tripple digits.

The handle bars are a little lower, the grips are a little wider and angled more towards straight. The steering is alot more responsive also.

Alright, the next mod is under way. I have pulled this bike apart like pictured below probably 10 times now before I finally pulled the trigger and started cutting.

Like I said it took a wile to start but now I'm in a little to far to turn back now. Here is the first cuts.

Here is the large holes left after the sides were cut off.

After I welded in the filler plate I decided with all this work I might as well address the factory welds ( if thats what they are called ). Ground the entire weld down and here is the hole left

I used some 5/16 solid round bar I had laying around to fill the gap left. Once welded I finished all the welds and here is the finished product

Took a break for some dinner and will finish the other side tonight. Tomorrow I will make the mounts for the GSXR rearsets. Then I have to rework the tail somehow. I wasnt really ready to tackle that now but this rearset mod had to be done to be able to get started on my other planned projects. More pictures to come as I finish more
