  • Old vs. New

hey all I'm new here but not new to riding. I just picked up a '92 GSXF, and let me tell you, either I've been coming across some slow bikes, or just some scared kids who are brave at the line. Every day I ride someone on a bike pulls next to me and wants to go, and I let them, I let them go a little 'bit and then "bang" I slam right by them. I love my ride and I only run 117 octane (she only has 22,345 miles). I pay $5.67 per Gallon, but it's worth it!!

Good to hear you're putting everyone in their place!

I wouldn't recommend running that high an octane gas in your bike though. (unless it's detonating with regular gas). At the least, you're wasting money, at the worst, you'll foul your plugs out faster and still waste money. Save the money, run 89, or 93 at the most.

ya unless you are advancing the igntion timing to hell you are wasing money... you'll likely get better fuel millage droping back to more appropriate fuel rating to boot.

as for the riding... if bikes are anything like cars just because they got a big bad car/bike... desn't mean they know how to do anything w/ it... i could out-launch most people on the street w/ my volvo

I thought you already know this CP. $2.67 for 87 octane + 2 Red Bull cans for $3.00 = $5.67

Evan Ducati is running on Red Bull, and women love it..

lol..., I've been purchasing it from the airport, but I mix it with 93 oct, this could be the reason for a crapy warm up in the mornings, because the plugs may be fouling??

I beleive what you're buying is leaded fuel... AvGas at 117 normally is. And it may be laden with MTBE as well (it has to be laden with some oxygenator to reach octane numbers higher than 100). Don't be surprized if your engine doesn't seen the next 1000 miles.

                      Hmmmm...
