98+ is 485 lbs cargo load capability I believe.
Take the GVWR and substract the wet weight (510 for the 600, 520 for the 750).
Note that the rear shock won't last long at that max load.

          Cheers,

Might be... I came up with the wet weights some time back by taking the dry weight and calculating the wet weight based on the weight of oil, fuel, etc. at the stock listed storage quantities. I can't bring myself to put the bike on my postal scale (one wheel at a time), even if it is rated at 350 lbs, to get a more accurate number.

              Cheers,

And you'll definately want to consider adjusting the rear shock if you're going to ride 2up with any signifcant weight between yourself and your passenger.

Come on guys..you can't rag on Lou...Ok you can but not for his weight...Crushing his head in a vise, that's fair game...starting helmets on fire while wearing them...that's fair game also...wheeling a tractor lawn mower...fine that is also ok...burning various elements that should not be burnt...that is also fair game...Trying to be Canadian, definate ragging material....but poor Lou's weight...man some things are sacred...

I don't think anything is sacred with me anymore, not after KatGirl posted about what happened that ill fated night that Jackle bestowed upon me the GIANT 64oz Tim Horotns mug that could hold a pitcher of beer, and then some, and keep it cold to the last drop... Yes, that truely was a sad, sad night, and the sacred bond of "What happens in Kanadia, stays in Kanadia" was broken.

There fore, rip on me as you please.

I just remember those numbers for some reason from when I had my 600. I remember several guys on the former board accurately weighing their bikes. I don't know why Motorcyclist and Sport Rider leave the Kat out of their performance data section.

I'm a big girl and I took a rider that was almost my equivalant...Give or take. I don't plan on doing that ALL the time...But I definitely noticed a difference when her husband got on the back of the bike. He is tall and thin. In any case...It was the first time I had passengers on...Just wanted to try it.

At one point I got curious about cargo load weights and so forth, for various motorcycles. Figured, hey, a Honda GoldWing or ST1300 has to have a larger cargo capacity than a Kat, right?

                              Wrong.

The only bike I've ever found with a higher cargo load capacity than a Katana is a Boss Hog. Period. That includes every product Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley and BMW built as of '05.

                              Cheers,
