  • Gonna Trade Up This Year :-)

Well i've made the decision. While the kat has been a great tool for me to get my cycle legs on, i've come to the conclusion it'll be better for me now to trade up rather than mod the piss outta the kat to get the performance i want. I sat on a 99 CBR 900 the other day and DAMN that thing was comfortable and felt great. I may be switchin to the darkside as far as that goes................I love suzuki's always have but the gixxers don't hold a candle to the comfort of the CBR's in my book. Any and all thoughts and advice are very welcome, i can use it.

Enjoy... But be aware that what's comfy in the showroom doesn't necessarily mean it's comfy after a few hours on the road. See if you can find an used one somewhere to test ride.

Personally I think the old style gixxers and the old style CBR's are not very comfortable.. both have a seat like a plank, and for me being alittle on the shorter side the reach for the bars over the huge tank was just not comfortable.

But the 900RR's are great bikes and really paved the way for honda to get back into the liter bike class race. Good luck w/ the new beast and stick around on KR

I loved my '96 GSXR750 for comfort actually. And I really like the newer GSXR's too. I like the 2001's in particular and the 750 GSXR would be as fast or faster than that 900RR! Good luck with your search though!

The newer style gixxers are extremely comfortable which has been a big deal to many from what the dealer in my area has mentioned. Suzuki did well w/ the new design. My old riding partners 2000 Gixxer 750 just was not comfortable for me at all, damn my short arms

as long as you like, thats the bottom line and all that really matters in the end

i think honda has always built a solid platform - nothing crazy, just a rock solid, good handling bike - usually not the fastest though.

i just bought a honda superhawk & am still alive
i havn't sold the katana yet though, let me know how it goes

Neither my '88 nor my '97 CBR's were comfortable for more than 20-30 minutes. The seat height vs. the bar heaight just didn't do it for me. The Kat is much more comfy. If you're gonna go bigger, get a Busa, ZZR1200 or one of the other liter sized bikes that have sport touring in mind.

                      Just my nickels worth.

thats been pretty much big red's trademark..stay the course, keep doing what your doing.. might not always win the top speed or magazine comparo's but they still continue to rake in the cash on the sales floor.

Was boud to happen. While the katana is a good all around bike, thats about it. Good tourer, but needs a bigger gas tank, fast but needs a lot more to be considered a true sportsbike, etc.

well i retract my previous statement. Busa insurance is only $450 more per year so its a very real possibility
