  • Amazing Deals on Gear

I'll start this off with this deal for gloves (I'm already waiting for mine to arrive!): http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...oves_2009.html
If you're not familiar with them, Alpinestars' GP Plus gloves have excellent reviews and I can hardly wait to receive them!

If you have really super small feet, this looks like an amazing deal too! http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/h...to+sport+boots

If you know of any other outstanding deals, or happen to come across some, post it here for those looking for new gear. Lets support the retailers who can show us the lowest price!

I have the Primato boots, definitely would not rec them for anyone who wants a good set of boots.

I love all my A* gloves though, SP2 SP3 and GP pro (I'm picky about gloves)

I purchased one of these and it is an awesome helmet. Great air flow, reduced head shake (buffeting), and an included breath box.

I love this helmet. Previously I was wearing a HJC cl-sp and this was a huge step up in every category.

The fit is a bit tight, so if you are on the edge, get the bigger size.

              Just found these: http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydire...EET%20PRODUCTS

              and these: http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydire...EET%20PRODUCTS

Both look pretty good, but I want something I can comfortably walk around in... and I'm not sure if these are any good for that... but a great price anyway for anyone interested.

That's funny (or maybe not). I just got the Primato II's in the mail yesterday. Took em for a run around town. I'm not overly impressed, but they had the shin PU, PU heel reinforcement, and ankle support. Definitely disappointed that they didn't have the steel shank, which is what was listed on the description at motorcycle-superstore and bikebandit.

I actually called ironpony about the SMX5's. The guy flat out told me to not buy them. The sizing is all over the place (way too big or too small) and they had a bunch of issues with the boots.

If you are looking at gear for your feet, I would avoid the Alpinestars personally. They don't seem to offer much protection for your ankles and absolutely nothing for your calfs and shins.

I disagree on the Primato 1 boot. The 2 is garbage since they took a lot of the protection away but the first is a decent boot for 90% of people out there. I will upgrade to a better boot for the track eventually but they have the steel shank and various other safety items built in and they have lasted quite a long time.

Worth buying boots as a beginner?

It's most important to have all the gear (including boots) as a beginner!!! Get the best quality you can afford and research all the reviews (preferably crash test reviews) you can to find the best gear.

I am not sure if this is meant to be serious or a troll post, but I choose to take it seriously. Since there is never a time when you should not wear gear, I will not say that gear is "most important" for beginning riders.

I will say that as a beginner, you are more prone to wrecking your bike. This is because experienced riders only have to dodge all the people trying to kill us. You have to dodge the same people AND learn to ride while doing it.

You can take it as you want. Wear your gear, always.

On the subject of boots: I wear the Tourmaster Solution 2.0s and they are amazing for daily street use. Shin guard, ankle protection, shifter patch, 100% weather proof, great grip, and so comfortable you can wear them all day on or off the bike. Regular shoes in a 13 are a bit tight on me and I have a wide foot (5E). The Solution 13 wide is an amazing fit (order a half size smaller than your normal size), and did not even need any breaking in to be all day comfortable. Definitely not a track boot though.

Be careful since having a "puck" or such for the ankle does not guard against most ankle injuries seen for us biker and that is the crushing and rotation on the ankle. A steel shank helps guard against that bu locking in the ankle and giving it more support to not rotate. Sure it reduces all day comfort for walking but you will not notice it on the bike.

People overlook their feet constantly when riding and it is one of the three most affected areas (head hands feet) Spend the money on the gear or regret it heavily later.
