First off I'm sorry for the bad picture, thought it looked better when I snapped it on my phone. I got the rear wheel back in without scratching anything and started putting everything back on the rear portion of the frame.
I also ordered new exhaust gaskets, a connector for the collector to mid pipe, and a couple of engine gaskets.
My fender came today
My header should be here in a couple days and my Scorpion will be here tomorrow

I would like to, but how would it look with the stainless Scorpion?
I'm thinking I'm going to paint it a dark metallic silver/grey
Thanks, I'm trying to get her done in time for spring.
Does anyone know what the bolt size for the exhaust is? I know I need a quarter inch shorter one for the new header, but don't know the rest of the specs.Last edited by sporty_drew; 02-25-2009, 12:25 AM.

Header bolts are M8 35mm I hope, as I've just bought some - that said I only paid £2.50 for A4 marine stainless so if they are too long it's not going to hurt too much to buy some more. Do the later headers require shorter bolts?
I've also just bought the Scorpion exhaust and post '98 headers to fit to the '99 engine just bought. Looks like we're doing similar mods so I will keep an eye on how your project progresses.
I recovered my horrible purple seat yesterday with nice black.
Next job strip and clean replacement carbs bought with the engine.

Thanks for the bolt specs. The post headers require a ~1/4" shorter bolt because they are a little thinner from what i've read. I was also wondering if you could thread a nut or a external tap on the old bolts, then cut them and clean the threads?
Sounds like you have a nice project. If you get a worklog up let me know, i'd like to watch the progress.

Old bolts rust like crazy with the winter salt on the roads here, hence the stainless. Should be able to cut down but probably easier to buy some more. Must use copper grease though to stop reaction with the engine block.
Got a work log in another post that I need to update - will try and do it asap

Here are some bad gimp images of different paint schemes.
The white looks good, but I don't know how the stainless scorpion pipe will look on it. It might not look good with the gold.
This is the one I'm really leaning towards now, It will be a metallic silverish/gray color.
I threw this one in here just because I believe it is the original color of the bike and I was bored.
If anyone has any other color ideas that they think would look good with the wheels I have now and the stainless scorpion pipe let me know and I'll do them.

I think that, that color scheme will be the best with my pipe and wheels. Your bike looks nice
Here is what It could look like with my black swingarm. (I'm not sure how to mock up the scorpion and make it look right )
I think I'll be putting these turn signal on the front and do my rear turn signals out of the inner part of the old ones. They will be on the sides of the license plate.

Just came today can't wait to get my header, gaskets and bolts in the mail so I can get it on.
