  • Brake Line Question

Does anyone know if the 750 front brake lines are longer than the 600? I've checked ronayers.com and the lower two lines are interchangeable but the upper line is different. Here shortly I'm going to be installing some HEL brake lines from HS2020 but I've also bought a set of 750 triples. I'm curious if I'm going to need to get new lines now. Not to mention any other cabling.

Are you doing a 3 line or two line front kit?

The two line kit probably won't matter at all...

I bet the easiet way to find out would be to call Craig at HEL and ask him.

Two line. I'll have to wait until I get home to call anyone. I just happened to think about as I was walking into work this morning.

I think that Craig usually adds in about an inch to an inch and a half on the new line kits... I was on the phone with him several times when he made the kit for my GS1100....

I think you'll probably be okay.... Isn't the 600 tree slightly taller?

Just the opposite. The 750 upper tree is taller by about an inch. It is the upper hose from the master cylinder to the splitter that needs to be longer if you stick with the three line setup. Going with the two line, just order a 750 setup and you'll be good.

Yea, if you're going with the 2 line kit you'll have plenty of line to go from the MC to both calipers.

That's the problem. I had already order and received the 600 2-line setup when I decided to get the 750 triples. I'm waiting on a PM from HS2020 to see if I'm going to be ok or not.

Sell that kit and get another one?

I'm hoping he'd be willing to do an exchange.

You will be fine. I know for a fact the 600 lines are about 3 inches to long. Gr8htnr showed me that. The measurements do not change just in case you swap something out.

Brooder put the new triple on then test fit the lines and get back with me. I am sure we can work something out.

Is there any benefit/deficit to using a 2 line front brake setup rather than the standard 3 line?

The 2 line set up does away with the spliter. The 2 line set up allows you to run your lines straight to the calipers. This allows for the fluid to transfer equally giving equal pressure on both brakes. Resulting in better braking power. I feel that the spliter reduces the amount of pressure going to calipers. I have the 2 line set up on mine and I feel the difference everytime I apply the brakes. So it really is up to you if you want the 3 lines up front or the 2 lines. It is also easier to move your calipers out of the way with the 2 line set up as well.

It's a royal pain in the rear to bleed the system with the distributer block.

Thanks for the fast replies, nice to find an active GSXF forum

Guess I'll get the 2 line setup then as my stock rubber lines are due for replacement.
