My buddy had the exact same bike except the 700. Did you know how balanced those v-4's were?

Yeah but in 84 they made the cams with a metal that was too soft, so after a while she wouldn't hold an idle when cold. Honda gave me a new set of cams under recall but 2yrs later it started to happen again. It was a great bike though.

I had a '96 Katana as my first bike.

No second gear, no gas cap, not enough bolts in the fairings to keep em from rattling as I rode, no ignition switch (not stolen PO lost key) instead we straight wired it to a push button and a toggle switch, possibly the baldest tires I have personally ever seen, weak brakes, no High Beam and a rusty chain.

I paid $500 for it and even though it stalled at every stop sign I loved the hell out of it. Ran like a beast believe it or not. Stopping was a PITA but she would go lol.

I have been hooked ever since.

In 91 I wanted a gsxr 750 so bad but when I went to the dealer they said we have a great deal if you want to look at it. Well it was a 86 vfr 750 with 3000 miles. For 1600 cash I had 600 and begged my parents for loan for the rest. Well it was a good choice I beat on that bike for six years.

My first real bike was a 74 Yamaha 650 Vtwin.... just like the one in the picture. It came with both an electric starter and kickstarter. Unfortunately it was a bit too much bike for me at the time and I ended up in my first (lol and not last) crash. I ended up restoring it and selling it. I do have fond memories of it.
