In light of recent events that have occured on KatRiders.com I feel it is important to point out a few things that some of you newer members should be made aware of and some of you older members may need to be reminded of.
First and formost... I am an as$hole. It's not news to me and it should not be news to anyone else. Calling me out on this fact is not necessary, I know it and to a certain degree am very proud of it. I've worked long and hard to become the person I am and have no plans to change that for anyone. By the same token I can be a helluva nice guy. The difference between which one you get is completely up to each of you and how you relate to me. What you give is what you get. Take that for what it is.
Now that we have that cleared up......
KatRiders.com is a free website run entirely by unpaid volunteers. The staff that we have was hand selected based on their individual qualities. Each person involved in managing this site was asked to be here because of who they are and what they could bring to the site as a whole. These qualities include post quantity, post quality, level headedness or lack thereof as well as a host of other things that lead us to believe they were the right person to increase the quality of management that we as an open forum depend on to continue.
As members of this website you are not required to like the staff or even agree with them on all subjects. You are however required to comply with the decisions that are made and handed down. The management of this website works as a team and only in extreme cases is anything done without the entire staff being made aware of it and giving input. When an immediate action is required on the board a staff member may act without getting consent of the rest of the staff but in EVERY case the matter is presented afterward to ensure that it was the right action. If it is determined that it was not then the action is overturned and reversed. We don't claim to be perfect but we do try our best to be fair to the interest of the entire membership of the website.
We appreciate that so many have found a home here and we want our membership to grow and stay solid. At the same time there is not a single member here that is above being banned from this website regardless of their post count or contribution. Recent events on the board have proven that and although it may cause a ripple affect of others leaving because they are unhappy about someone else being banned or the way the site is managed, we act for the good of the board as a whole. If losing a few long time quality members is the price that must be paid, so be it. Management absolutely will not tolerate arguement with it's decisions or slander against us. This is not a new thing, this is the way it has been since this website was opened and is the way it will continue to be until the sad day comes when it is closed. If you do not like that we are sorry and you may feel free to excuse yourself at any time by simply not logging in again.
At this point I'd like to point out the forum rules that were published Oct 1, 2004 the day we opened. Pay particular attention to numbers 1 and 5.
I am personally sorry for events that have occured that have made some members feel that they needed to leave. There was bad reaction on both sides of the arguement and the parties who were directly involved have come to realize their part in the incident and have been able to move past it. Most of those members who have chosen to leave have been reacting without having the full details. They will be missed but them leaving is not so tramatic that the management of this site will change our policies to keep them. We will continue to stand our ground on these issues as we always have because we must act for the good of all and not of a single member.
I sincerely hope that all members of this website will continue to visit us and be a part of our internet family, however disfunctional it may be. Please remember always that this is a free site and you are our guests here. We are glad you are here but will have no problem asking you to leave if you cannot follow our rules or generally try to cause trouble in our otherwise happy home.
Those who choose not to remain because they feel our site mission or performance has changed I can only wish the best to and say that I hope all of your rides are safe ones. Please excuse yourselves quietly and enjoy your lives to the fullest.
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this, hopefully understanding our point of view, and for being a member of KatRiders.com
