Lou, I gotta tell ya, I am going to give you a 10 of 10 for that job. Why a 10? Cuz you made it twice as hard on yourself as it should have been, and ended up with great results. So how buzzed were you off all the chemicals?

Great post though. hopefully some of the guys can see how easy (if they skip 1/2 the things you did..hehe j/k) it can be and give it a try before paying someone else to do it.

    Good job Lou.

Did you have to do any sanding between coats or wet sand the clear coat ? I am in the process of painting mine and dont wont to go any further and screw it up.

OOps sorry. Only sanded the primer coat. Paint with out sanding, and then after the clear coat cures, you sand that as well.

It should stand up just fine, really depends on your clear. We are using a urathane clear, so it is pretty tough. You at least want to use something like a ureathane clear on your tank because it is gas resistant.

So Lou, I have an unpainted cowl. What do I do if there is no spray can that correlates to the 93 red that I can find...Do I a) try to keep finding a spray that matches or b) get a professional job to match.
