  • Best tires / sizes for 88 katana?

This question is for the 88 Katana. I'm sure the rear is 3.5 inches wide. But I've seen different sites listing the front at 2.5 inches AND 3.0 inches wide.

    Stock F 110/80/17 2.5 in or 3.0in
    Stock R 140/80/17 3.5in

    Now would this work

    F 120/70/17
    R 150/70/17

    or

    F 110/80/17
    R 150/70/17

    or

    F 110/70/17
    R 140/70/17

    What’s the best combo?

What I'm getting at is how interchangeable are the widths / percentages.

Can I stay 110 on front if I go 150 on rear or should I go 120 if 150 on rear?

Can the percentages be diff. i.e. 80 on front 70 on rear or vise versa?

Or can I drop from 80 to 70 on both to get lower profile?

Are specific tires better than others on skinnier rims like the 88 Katana?

I've read as much as I can but I guess nobody has asked these exact Q's.

    Thanks for the help guys.

If ya haven't figured it out... I need new tires.

thread.... it's a few years old.

        That said...

        The 88 600 used 2.75" front, 3.0" rear, X17 rims with a 6 spoke design.

It's unique and special for those rim sizes and tire recommendations. I don't think a 150 is going to fit well on that rim size, and probably better sticking with 140 as the maximum size.

        The 89 - 97 models on all 600 and 750 used 3" front, 3.5" rear X17 with a 3 curved /swept spoke design.

The OEM recommended size for 600 was a 140 rear, the 750 was a 150 rear. Why? No clue, they used the same rim.

Post kats (98-06 models both 600 and 750) use a 3.5" front and 4.5" rear X17 rims with straight but oval cross section spokes.
