Would a post 98 throttle assembly, with push/pull throttle, fit a pre 98, in regards to the electrical switches?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it will plug in to pre-98 wiring, but I'm not certain..

You mean the throttle position sensor on the carbs or where the cables enter the switchgear at the handlebars?

I mean the electrical switches at the handlebar. I don't know about the US bikes, but I have an on/off switch for the lights, and of course the engine kill switch.
I'm asking because I'm about to fit a set of flatslide carbs, and I would like to have a push/pull throttle grip for saftey.
