Front tire wearing strange??

    smoother = hotter due to more contact surface area and fewer air gaps between tyre and road, so I guess that makes sense. Tyres should be able to cope with heat though - I mean, sure the tread will wear faster, but actually blow??!! It must be an interesting surprise when it happens.

      I've measured the road temp in midsummer new asphalt, 120ish outside road temp 250-300ish.

              Struth! That explains why it feels so hot sitting a couple of feet above 300* temps ... with an air/oil cooled engine between my legs. I'll have to check road temps here in the summer, but back home near the coast is unlikely to reach those extremes. Probably went close in the centre and west last year??
