  • sprocket options: 1127 swap into 750

I've been going over all the math.
The GSX1100F Katana used the 15:52=3.467 sprocket ratio.
I think getting as close to that for my swap is the best plan.
Looks Like using my existing sprockets would be 15:47=3.133.
I can go small up front with a 14 tooth: 14:47=3.36.
I can change both and get as close as: 14:48=3.43.

    Just wondering about some things:
Is the front sprocket bolt kinda tuff to get off?
Will a 14 sprocket add more stress to the chain?
Will this change the chain length?

      No .
      Yes.
      Maybe ...
I'm running the same 15/50 I was running with the 771 engine . Couple minor problems . First gear will THROW you if you goose it . And 3rd gear will pull from 25mph to WELL over 100 . You can pretty much stay in 3rd all day . I didn't worry about the math , I just didn't wanna throw tons of money at it I didn't have . And the outcome was pleasing enough , so I never worried about it . But then , I DID spring for the Wiseco 3-over kit to bump it up to a 1216

Yeah, seems like I should just begin with the sprockets I have, and then figure out any adjustments.
Wow, that gearing commander is deep.

Just wondering, are these 1127 hybrids prone to tank slap?
I mean that's a huge power upgrade, the front end gotta get light.

Tank slap has less to do with power, and more to do with steering geometry.

I thought so, the GSXR's have a more vertical fork camber.

Just plug in the gsx1100f and go from there, the chart will till you what gives you what and the stock setup.

                  makes sense now

Yeah 92xjunker, that gear commander made it all clear.
I decided I'll need new sprockets and chain anyway, the 750 ratio is very close to the GSXR, plus I'll get just a tad better MPG.
The Katana 1100 ratio is the lowest, (I don't get that) and MPG will drop down.

Don't know if you have already investigated (and I have no idea 'cos it's not something I've done or even contemplated) ... but the sprockets determine final drive ratio. You need to factor in any discrepancies in gear ratios between the 750 and 1100 to determine what your final RPM vs speed will be. For example, the 1100 may have significantly taller gear ratios that necessitate the lower final drive ratio. (A quick look suggest 5th gear on an 1100 is about 30% taller than 6th gear on a 750.) Difference in wheel / tyre sizes should also be considered.

Even with the 15/50 setup , I still run lower RPM's at highway speeds than my 750 , and that's with one less gear .

Yeah, I was going to add... remember with the bigger motor you give up 6th gear.
