  • track day tools…

Hey, I did one track day, going back for more but I'm wondering about this:
I saw many people using small generators, they make a really annoying racket.
I can't figure why people really need them?

They need them to make electricity of course.
They may have tire warmers, air compressors, computers, lights or who knows what that may need power for.

Most people running small generators are using them for tire warmers. Race and DOT tires don't provide any useful grip unless they are already warm AND they have limited heat cycles because of how the compound is made.... so you want to go out on warm tires and keep them warm as long as possible. Many of these guys only get a day or less out of a set of tires...

Anyone running larger gens is probably running heat, AC, compressors, whatever.

      Which track were you at?

Thanks, I think it's needed for tire warmers, they must consume a lot of power. The other gadgets, not much.
I'm in SW Michigan, using Gingerman and Grattan.
Don't wanna go over to Illinois/Wisconsin, too rich for my budget. Lots more people too.

Some of the tracks don't have any power available... so most guys are setup with the gens and just use those.

Sgt Jimbo is very active with STT at Grattan.
