  • Engine Swap 1990 Katana 600 with a 1990 Katana 750

    Hello all,

After searching high and low I've found a 750 cc katana 1990 engine with only 16000 miles.

Id like to swap it with my 1990 katana 600..

In my previous post you helped me decide what to do can you guys let me know if this is a direct swap?

are 1-1/2" longer on the 750’s.
You may have to adapt or use the frames front engine bolt clamps, or the engine’s front
bolt clamps, but one or the other will almost always work.
I have not yet played with any 03 or 04 Kats, so I don’t know about them but I suspect
they are the exact same frame set up, so those engines would work for those bikes also.

Excellent, thanks guy - so I can use the 600 carburator with the 750 I would just have to adapt to the slightly larger engine in the back?

Ghost, please. Stop this line of thinking as you are just going to end up in an unholy mess.

Fix the bike you have. Don't go and screw it up with 600 carbs in a 750 motor that you probably won't be able to fit without a lot work you don't understand the purpose of.

                Get your existing bike running!

To put a750 into a 600 you need the motor, carbs and oil cooler with lines. You can use 600 carbs, but it isn't recommend, you will need the oil cooler though.

You can check out my motor swap thread from a while back.
Get over yourself. For me to think you are an idiot, I would first need to think of you.

so there are no direct swaps for the 89-97 kat 600?
