Sounds like a fun project if you've got the pockets for it. Definitely go for it if you're up for the challenge.

It has been done before, good luck. I also hear that the turbos from the early '90s mitsubishi cars work, but not sure which ones fit.

                      Parts list for starters:

                      Turbo
                      Intake manifold
                      Exhaust manifold
                      Tuneable computer
                      Fuel Injector set up
                      Fuel Pump
Bigger Oil Pump and Oil cooler

Heck you might want to try to switch over to a gsxr engine and build up from that.

When? There has been lot's of talk but I don't think I've ever really seen one.
Crazymofo has gotten the closest and he still never had it bolted on as far as I know.. but he at least had the parts.

you do not need injection or a tuneable computer for a turbo. you guys should really do some research before you make comments like that. turbocharging carbureted engines is quite simple. there are two schools of thought on turbocharging...push and pull. in the push set-up, the turbo forces the air through the carb ( the more traditional set-up, but easier with throttle bodies and injectors) in a pull-through setup, the turbo actually sucks the air and fuel from the carb, through the turbo, to the head. read any Hot VW's magazine and you will see what I am talking about. lots of guys run turbo's on those four cylinder air cooled engines, so i don't see why you couldn't on a kat, the major issue is space to get it all in on the bike.
